Puentes Program Description
Puentes is a teen-parent support program designed to delay second pregnancies and to support young parents to complete their high school education, develop and be prepared to pursue career goals, and achieve positive outcomes for themselves and their children. Puentes serves mothers ages 13-22 by providing intensive support, education and connection with resources.
1. PUENTES COORDINATOR - closing date June 27
The essential responsibility of this position is to coordinate the Puentes program and work as a team within Community Wellness Center. Clients range from 12 to 22 years old and all clients are either pregnant or parenting. Full-time Salary DOE plus benefits.
Expectations:
- Puentes Program Development: program curriculum, evaluation, and maintaining files
- Grant Writing/Reporting
- Supervision of Puentes staff and volunteers
- Coordinate comprehensive case management and provide 24-hour availability to clients
- Co-facilitate weekly group
- Community Outreach
- Recruitment
- LISW preferred
Requirements:
- Licensed and insured driver
- Never convicted of a felony
- Able to work both as a member of a team as well as independently
- Experience with teens/children
- Knowledge of local agencies a plus
- Speak Spanish/Bilingual a plus
2. PUENTES CASE MANAGER - closing date June 27
Total hours per week: 20
Pay per hour: $10 plus benefits
The essential responsibility of this position is to provide case management for Puentes clients. Clients range from 12 to 22 years old and all clients are either pregnant or parenting. Case management will occur on-site.
Expectations:
- Provide case management for Puentes clients
- Transport clients to and from appointments when needed
- Assist in linking resources to clients
- Communicate regularly with Puentes coordinator about client needs and progress and attend staff meetings
- Assist in grant reporting for current and future funding sources
- Assist with the planning and leading of weekly support group
- Assist with outreach in the community
- Assist with the maintenance of the Puentes referral system

girltime Program Description
girltime is an after school and summer youth development program for middle school girls that has been in operation since December of 1999. girltime’s mission is to prevent unintended teen pregnancy in Taos County through positive youth development activities and projects that promote healthy decision making, the formation of positive self-image, healthy relationships, analysis of issues effecting youth (i.e. eating disorders, teen suicide), alcohol and drug abuse prevention, community involvement/awareness and comprehensive reproductive health education.
girltime collaborates extensively with community organizations, institutions, and individuals in Taos County and in the State of New Mexico to enrich the experiences of girltime participants and to be proactive in preventing adolescent pregnancy. Over forty guest presenters supported girltime this year by teaching in such areas as culinary arts, woodworking, socializing animals for adoption, beauty and makeup techniques, healthy body image, media literacy, horsemanship, dance and drumming.
3. girltime Educator - closing date June 27
Total hours per week: 20
Pay per hour: $10 plus benefits
This person is responsible for designing and implementing day-to-day activities and long-term projects for girltime, an after-school and summer camp program for middle-school girls in Taos.
